As part of their work to connect with more people in the community, members of the Kemp Town Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) are going virtual for a new regular online drop-in session. With temperatures dropping across Sussex, our LGBT team came up with the idea of trying an online ‘drop-in’ starting 22nd November 7pm, so that people can ask questions, raise issues and join in discussions from the comfort of their own homes.

These won’t replace the popular local ‘in person’ drop-in sessions (next one 30th November) but will provide another way of getting involved for those who live further away, find it difficult to get out or just prefer to chat online.

PC Rachel Piggott and PC Rich Bridger will be available to answer your questions and listen to your suggestions on all lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans issues around safety, the law and policing as well as responding to other neighbourhood concerns. LGBT Caseworker, Clare Briscoe, will be online too in case you’d like to speak to someone who isn’t a police officer and who has specialist knowledge of hate crime, domestic abuse and other issues. Sgt Alex Evans heads up the team and has extensive knowledge of the issues facing both the LGBT community and Kemp Town residents. Although the team is based in Brighton, you’ll be very welcome to join in if you live or work anywhere in Sussex

The first session takes place on Tuesday 22 November at 7pm and you can join in the live chat at www.sussex.police.uk/lgbt , on the LGBT Facebook page or on Twitter.com by tweeting @PoliceLGBT or using the hashtag #lgbtdropin

Although the sessions are open to all, our first event takes place just after the International Trans Day of Remembrance so we’ll be extending a special welcome to all from the trans community who might have questions around policing or safety. Please log on, take a look and join in – we look forward to ‘meeting’ you online.

And if you would rather have a face to face chat, these will still be taking place monthly, the next one being the 30th November. Check out details on the Zhoosh Events Guide where full details are provided.
