Brighton Radio Reverb launches new LGBT Radio show
July 2011 saw the launch of a new audio LGBT show by Kathy Caton for Brighton’s non-profit community station, Radio Reverb 97.2fm. Called ‘Out In Brighton’, it’s a radio guide to all things lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans in Brighton & Hove and is broadcast live on Radio Reverb 97.2FM between 4-5pm Thursday and repeated throughout the week. It can also ne heard online at www.radioreverb.com and available on demand at www.mixcloud.com/OutInBrighton
Kathy has a wealth of experience in radio having worked for the BBC for the last 11 years, four of which were with BBC Radio 4 and is also one of the original founders of Radio Reverb. As well as the ‘Out In Brighton’ show, Kathy recently joined the team at Zhoosh to help us to become ‘multi-media’ and write reviews and posts for the zhoosh blog.
So far there has been four ‘Out In Brighton’ shows:
- Show 1 is with David Sheppeard talking about Parade! Protest! Perform! and the Pink Fringe, Dr Kath Browne on the Count Me In Too project, David Hoyle interviewed by Melita Dennett and reports from the BLAGSS Big Gay Sports Day and the Pride Companion Dog Show.

- Show 2 is with Pushy C from Calabash talking about the Arjee Bhajee, Melita Dennett reports from the Justin Campaign football tournament, the Free Brighton Pride Women’s Tent at the Latest, interviews with Juliet Jacques and the Sussex Police LGBT Liaison officers, and music from the Pixies, Pink Martini and Imelda May.
