Shakedown Festival @Stanmer Park, 17 September

Shakedown Festival is unmissable, with a sterling line up of tip top acts.  The festival will be held in Stanmer Park on Saturday 17 September and kicks off at 2pm with last doors at 10.30pm.

If you are not familiar with some of the acts (shame on you) see below for a brief overview..

Razorlight- UK indie band established in 2002, consisting of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Johnny Borrell, drummer David ‘Skully’ Sullivan Kaplan, bass player Freddie Stitz and lead guitarist Gus Robertson.  Best known for top tunes ‘America’, ‘Somewhere Else’ and ‘In the Morning’.

Freemasons- Brighton DJ’s Russell Small and James Wiltshire, formerly of Phats and Small.  Best known for their remixes of ‘Pjanoo,’ ‘Keep this fire burning’ and ‘The Only Girl in the World’.

Example- UK singer and rapper who has worked with Professor Green and Tinchy Stryder and is known for tracks ’Wont Go Quietly,’ ‘Kickstarts,’ and ‘Changed the Way You Kissed Me.’  His hotly anticipated new single ’Stay Awake’ is due to be released on 28 August.

Kissy Sell Out- electro DJ Thomas Bisdee was described by Mixmag in 2009 as “one of the most exciting, charismatic and entertaining DJs of the decade”.  Singles ‘Through the Leaves,’ ‘Essex Boy’ and ’The Kiss’ have made it big in the UK.

Zane Lowe- TV presenter and radio 1 DJ, where he has his own evening show (7-9pm) playing alternative music, including drum and bass, rock, punk and hip hop.  He has a feature called Fresh Meat, where 3 songs from bands are put head to head and the winner is played throughout the week.  Winners have included The Killers, Kasabian, The Wombats and Bloc Party. 

2Many DJ’s- fronted by Belgian David and Stephen Dewaele and otherwise known as electro band Soulwax.  They are known for their Beathoven remix and ‘We Love Animals’ amongst others.

New Young Pony Club- UK electro band from London who’s own take on their music is that they “marry the dance ethic with the pop ethic, and make something that you can dance to and sing along to.”  Singles include ‘Ice Cream’ (what a tune) and ‘Get Dancey.’

Ed Sheeran- UK singer and songwriter who recently climbed to number 3 in the charts with single ‘The A Team.’ 

Kraftykuts- fronted by Martin Reeves a UK electro, dance and breakbeat producer and DJ.  He has won “best DJ” three years in a row as well as being honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Breakbeat award at the Breakspoll Awards.

Early Bird tickets are a bargain at £35 plus booking fee and VIP tickets are £75 plus booking fee.
