The Zhoosh! Brighton Blog

A GoGo I did GoGo too.

So in my last blog I was lamenting the fact that I don’t like camping and the only thing that would save me was Leisha Hailey.

Well, much the disappointment of everyone at GoGo Festival Uh Huh Her had to cancel their performance due to illness. Where did this leave me? I panicked, I cried, I threw a tantrum on the ground – no not really, I’m not that dramatic. Uh Huh Her or no Uh Huh Her, rain or no rain, I don’t like camping but seriously for me, it was about having a great time with my friends, listening to great (new) music, laughing at comedy and filling my eyes with as much female-candy.

There were so many great bands/performers so I will choose just three for this blog. Hooker, Miri & Midas Fall.

Hooker rocked my world. They are punk & rock with a good dash of rhythm and a good sense of humour witnessed in this conversation with the guitarist from Boy who was in the crowd watching…

Boy:”I love you.”

Hooker: “Thanks.”

Boy:”When is your next gig?”

Hooker:”Now.”

LOL from me and Hooker (maybe not so many others thought it funny?).

It’s a small world; a few weeks after GoGo Festival I met a woman from Manchester (at a CP in Bath) who is best friends with Hooker. I’m thinking of moving to Manchester just so I can be BF’s with Hooker too.

Midas Fall blew me away. Music for atmospheric arty films is the best way to describe their music – set the scene of people smoking and looking intense and moody – that’s how I’m going to be from now on…in Manchester with Hooker listening to Midas Fall.

Some people really do command your attention with a great stage presence and for me Miri had me captivated. She could sing The Muppet Theme song and I would be watching & listening with the same intensity.

Miri did have one of the most truly miraculous moments of the festival; with rain pissing down and people running for cover…and then she started to sing “Blue Skies” and ‘hey presto’ the rain stops and the sun shone (divine intervention? I like to think so).

Thanks for the GoGo Festival team for putting on such a great event. Can’t wait to GoGo next year.
